Rolex - Sea Dweller - 126660

The Sea-Dweller was originally developed in 1967 to complement the already popular Rolex tool-watches, the Sea-Dweller was developed originally for saturation divers working for SeaLab who were spending a lot longer underwater than your casual diver. Because of those extreme conditions and depths, the divers noticed that the crystal would pop out of the case during decompression due to the helium particles in the case. So, Rolex developed the Helium release valve under their patent and thus the Sea-Dweller was born.

This version the 126660 was launched in 2018 following on from the original version and is also set in a 44mm stainless steel Oyster case with a uni-rotational black Cerachrom bezel. The dial is unique to this model, the ‘D-Blue’ and its colour gradient from blue to black represents James Cameron's solo dive to the bottom of the Mariana Trench and has a glossy finish with ‘Maxi’ style hour markers with Chromalight luminous filling and a date feature at 3 o’clock. Fitted with a domed sapphire crystal glass (5.5mm thick) and a Triplock screw-down crown for additional water resistance. It is powered by the updated Rolex calibre 3235 automatic movement with up to 70 hours of power reserve and comes fitted on the updated Oystersteel bracelet with a folding Oysterlock safety clasp with Glidelock extension system.
