Richard Mille takes watch lovers back to their childhood with 20 new models mirroring the sweet and tangy flavours of confectionery and fruits. The creativity goes against traditional haute horlogerie’s values of adventure and bling. Then again, this is the Swiss brand that defies convention and these collections, Bonbon, Fruits and Sweets, seem worthy additions for their daring design alone.

They are composed of sweets, pastries and fruit, presenting a real treat for the wrist. The aesthetics are not what you expect in luxury watches but, they bring a smile and happiness. These 10 horological treats are yet further evidence Richard Mille breaks habits and expectations.

Artistic Director, Cécile Guenat stated: “Bonbon - just saying the word is enough to make you smile. It manages to convey a combination of pleasure, openness and sharing all at once. This collection is disruptive, elegant, daring and playful. In a word: creative!

“For me, it was truly an opportunity to let loose and have fun revisiting childhood. Nonetheless, it was an ambitiously daring project entailing 18 months of development, and entirely faithful to the spirit of Richard Mille, a serious brand that’s not afraid to break with tradition.”

BONBON COLLECTION

The Bonbon collection are automatic winding calibres timepieces based on three of the brand’s iconic models: the RM07-03, RM16-01 and RM37-01. The 10 models display a total of 60 popping, bright colours across the six Carbon TPT® and Quartz TPT® cases, including the world premiere of a new turquoise hue. They’re meant to reflect the sweets in a candy jar and the designs most definitely bring memories of a sweet shop!

This experimenting with bright, daring colours is a Richard Mille speciality and the variety of colours are possible because of earlier creations. The brand’s mastery of materials sees this collection add greens, crimson, pink, yellow and more to its extensive range of colours, many of them exclusive.

The brand’s skill in working with ceramics, gemstones and patented materials like Carbon TPT® and Quartz TPT®, have produced 10 stunning models composed of shades and textures resembling confectionery. The attention to detail has produced distinctive timepieces that are undeniably imaginative, playful and enchanting. Each model is limited to 30 pieces each.

FRUITS LINE

With little sweets adorning these models, this collection pays homage to the very concept of sweet temptation with six fruitful flavours. The colour-gradient cases are made of Carbon TPT® combined with Quartz TPT® of a different hue for each model. An all-new turquoise colour features for the first time on a Richard Mille watch.

There are  3,000 miniature sculptures integrated in this collection, painted in acrylics and lacquered by hand. They stand out from the dials and each model is designed to look like sachets of tiny sweets. The ‘sugar coating’ effect adds to the realism and is achieved using powdered enamel and the fine sand employed in hourglasses.

These models make you discover tart jelly ribbons, twisty lollipops, candy citrus segments, gumdrops and other surprises positioned on plates of grade 5 titanium that are machined and skeletonised like horological components. The six new models are:

- RM16-01 - Lemon and Strawberry

- RM07-03  - Blueberry and Litchi

- RM37-01 -  Kiwi and Cherry

SWEETS LINE

This collection presents four models featuring two-tone ceramic cases setting off their grand feu enamel or black-chromed titanium confections. They’re designed to evoke the flavours and textures of biting into each sweet/confectionery. The brand’s mastery of enamelwork is on full display with the visual sensation of softness, crunchiness, and fluffiness.

The creamy quality of the TZP ceramic case is enhanced by the varied matt and polished effects of elements on the dial. Black is presented in a whole new light here, as a giant roll of liquorice that occupies the entire surface of the RM16-01 dial.

The four new delectable models are:

- RM07-03 - Cupcake

- RM07-03 - Marshmallow

- RM37-01 - Sucette

- RM16-01 - Réglisse
