The world is divided between people who love and understand watches – and those who don’t. At Global Watches, we pride ourselves on the service we deliver to some of the most discerning watch enthusiasts in the world.

Our clientele comprises successful people who demand the highest standards of service and quality, who truly appreciate rare and unique time-pieces and for whom the watch they wear is more than a functional object. It defines them. I know this for a fact, because I’m just the same and it’s precisely this passion for watches that defines us at Global Watches – and the service we deliver for our clients.

Ramon Calliste, Managing Director, Global Watches.

“If I focused on quality and worked hard, then one day I could yet become the best in the world - at least at my second love.”

Injury ended Ramon Calliste’s top-flight football career just as it was about to take off. It was a cruel blow, but Ramon’s fighting spirit soon meant he had a back-up plan. Enter his second love: luxury watches.

It’s a love that started when he was a footballer. It was clear to him and those around him that he had an instinct for watches. His discerning eye and growing knowledge meant that he could tell the difference between a good watch and a great one. So, when fate intervened and ended his sporting career, he knew what he wanted to do – set up his own watch business. But the first thing he did was to fill gaps in his knowledge by studying, acquiring qualifications and learning from other experts.

Fast-forward to today and Global Watches is the result: a successful business, built on an enviable reputation, which itself draws on the fire and dedication that made Ramon such a footballing natural. It’s a reputation that’s built on trust, his extensive network, the expertise to find rare pieces and – of course, personal service.

Ramon Calliste continues to move from strength to strength opening a new shop - Global Boutique in Mayfair- in December 2021. His new shop carries pre-owned watches, fine jewellery and diamonds, as well as Hermès handbags.

The story began during Ramon’s childhood when – having been spotted by United’s Academy scouts – the whole family moved from their home-town of Cardiff to live in Manchester. Expectations were high and, when Sir Alex Ferguson subsequently signed him for United, press commentators regularly referred to him as “the next Ryan Giggs”.

Suddenly, Ramon found himself living a dream shared by millions of boys, training alongside some of the greatest players of all time – Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo. And it was a similar story at Liverpool when Rafa Benitez signed him there. Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso and Djibril Cisse were all on the first team at the time. And in this company, you have to prove yourself, be professional and show true determination to break through.

This defining experience set Ramon up and gave him the determination, dedication and discipline needed to succeed in the world of watches.
